Poland 2009/2010
Poland is a country characterized by its very traditional society, in which the question of homosexual people and their rights provoke often strong homophobic reactions. On one hand, the government refuses to recognize some of the basic rights of sexual minorities; on the other hand, the majority of the society perceives homosexual people only through their sexual orientation.
In a society that strongly promotes a traditional family model, the situation of lesbian women is even more complex. Frequently they suffer a double discrimination: first, because of their "ill sexual orientation" and second, because they do not fulfill their "natural role" within the frame of a traditional family. Hard Times
Spain 2010/2011
Spain is one of the most impacted by the present economic situation countries. One consequence is an increasingly spreading housing crisis, caused by the insolvency of mortgage holders. In the past 4 years (2007 - April 2011) over 300 000 families faced eviction due to the mortgage execution.
According to the spanish mortgage law, during the seizure process, bank can put the property on public auction and overtake it for only 60% of its appraised value. The rest of the money, with additional high administrative costs, has to pay the debtor. read more |
